We present cases of polycystic kidney disease undergoing kidney transplant at People’s Hospital 115 to survey of clinical and paraclinical characteristics of patients with kidney failure due to polycystic kidneys undergoing kidney transplantation and indications for polycystic nephrectomy before transplant; and review of kidney transplant results in patients with polycystic kidneys undergoing kidney transplant at People’s Hospital 115. Methods: Retrospective description of case series. Results: There were 8/313 patients (2.5%) with polycystic kidney disease and 305 patients (97.5%) without polycystic kidney disease who received kidney transplants at People’s Hospital 115 from February 2004 to August Average age of 8 patients with polycystic kidney disease: 57.21 ± 3.76 years old (52 - 68 years old), 5/8 men and 3/8 women. Polycystic nephrectomy: 2/8 patients, all due to kidney infection. Results after kidney transplant surgery: 7/8 patients had urine right at the table, 1/8 patients had urine when they went to the recovery room. There was 1 patient with urinary tract infection after kidney transplant due to Pseudomonas putida and stabilized after 7 days of treatment. Graft survival at 1 year and 5 years is 8/8 TH (100%). No surgical complications, acute tubular necrosis and acute graft rejection were recorded in these 8 cases. Conclusions: The rate of polycystic kidney disease undergoing kidney transplant at People’s Hospital 115 is 8/313 cases (2.5%). There were 2/8 cases of polycystic nephrectomy before transplant due to kidney infection. There was 1 patient with UTI after kidney transplant due to Pseudomonas putida and stabilized after 7 days of treatment. Graft survival rate at 1 year and 5 years is 8/8 cases (100%).
